Ireland - Day 6 - Burren & Moher

I slept in an hour later than usual.
I woke up with a sore throat.
I'm probably sick.

I decided to take it much slower, but still carry on.

I caught a neat sight at the B&B as I was heading out, next to the fireplace, instead of wood, they had a pile of peat to burn.

I started by heading to Corcomroe Abbey.

I don't understand what's going on here.

Today's plan was to spend most of my time in The Burren a massive karst landscape in County Clare.

within The Burren, there is the Poll na mBrón (Poulnabrone Dolmen),

As well, as Mullach Mór, which I was really excited to hike up.

The hike was very rewarding and had some fun scrambling bits.

There were plenty of fossils on the trail.

The trail wasn't super runnable, but I managed to run on a decent proportion of it (even though I was trying to take it slow).

I also learned that the Kill in a lot of Irish places comes from Cill, which means church in Gaelic.

As I made my way to the Cliffs of Moher, there were many spots to stop along the coast, where the strong waves would crash up on the rocks splashing whoever was in the way.

The Cliffs of Moher were beautiful, but the experience was over produced, which kind of ruined it for me. In addition, most of the trails had been closed off and heavily fenced.

I decided to skip Kilkee due to time, and headed to Limerick for dinner. I had some African food again, ordering some Mushroom Efo and a side of jollof. At first, she didn't understand that I just wanted a side of jollof and charged me for both an efo meal and a jollof meal. Then, when I got the food, I didn't get any fufu. When the fufu came, I realised that I was given mushroom egusi instead of efo. I was so confused! But in the end we got it all sorted out, and the food wasn't bad either.

MZ suggested I should write a limerick while there, but this is the best I could come up with:

I'm in Limerick
so I thought I would write one
but wrote a haiku

My AirBnB tonight had two cute cats that welcomed me to their home. Unfortunately, I had to wish them good night early and headed to bed.
