new beginnings

Date: []

hi again.

I've been thinking a lot about enshittification and platform decay. I'm sure you've noticed the mess that the Internet has become: login pages, algorithmic content, popups, captchas, micro-transactions, monetization, data mining, paywalls, ads, and oh so much AI slop.

There's been many movements pushing back against the corporate Internet.

Self hosting is becoming more popular as platforms increase prices without increasing value (Netflix), or slow down their apps by overloading them with crap (Spotify).

The indie web of personal and independent websites is still alive and well, with all the tiny pixel art and web rings, the idea of publishing and owning your own content. Allowing you to see the content you want to see, about things and people you care about, rather than scrolling through a feed of rage bait, ai slop and fake news -- lightly dusted with posts from the people you actually subscribed to.

I've decided to revive my old blog site to recapture that nostalgia of the good old days of the Internet and to take back control of my data, and you, the reader your control of the content you wish to see.

I hope to write about my adventures, hobbies and journey of trying to improve this reality we've built for ourselves.
